This tired and overgrown garden was in need of a total redesign. We thinned out the overgrown tree cover to allow more light, removed the old and rotten timber beds, terraced the old slope of the garden into more useable and defined areas. Using rendered block walls, natural stone paved terraces, paths, and steps we created a series of different garden areas - terraces for morning tea and dinning al fresco, a lawn area for lounging in the sun, planting beds, a gentle water feature, and a shed and service area screened from the main view. We also designed in a new set of stairs from the first floor to the garden, and a remote-controlled garden lighting system.
We designed and installed a naturalistic carp and wildlife pond in a back garden in Wanstead.
A low-maintenance, calming, and colourful urban garden. A total redesign of Guy's garden to include a new excavated patio and dining area outside the kitchen and a 'Tea Terrace' at the rear. The client being away from the house for long periods the garden needed to be very low maintenance and so the steps up to the garden level lead to a gravel garden with no formal plant borders, but softened at the sides with openly planted easy-care grasses and low shrubs chosen for their colouring and year-round interest. The new slatted fencing has been planted with evergreen flowering clematis, and the renovated red-brick rear wall with climbing trachelospernums and a beautifully tasseled garrya ellipticta. The front garden we made over to match the rear with gravel, boulders, ornamental grasses and low-growing flowering shrubs. We also inbuilt a bin-store recess to hide the wheelie-bins.
A beautiful total revamp of a garden in East London. Into the design we included new planting borders, an espaliered fruit tree fence, new patio and steps, a turfed lawn area, with a winding stepping stone path leading to a raised bed vegetable garden with a 'crazy' paved floor interplanted with creeping ground cover, a circular seated small patio backing onto a wildlife pond and waterfall, a wild flower garden, the new shed, and new trellis fencing and gate to the back alleyway. The new planting borders we planted with a variety of shrubs, climbers, evergreen plants and perennials, ferns, wild flowers, herbs and ornamental grasses for all year colour and interest, and all with minimal maintenance needs.
