St Mary's Avenue

St. Mary's Avenue

We carefully designed the pond surrounds to blend a range of natural set Purbeck Stone and aquatic plants – with shrubs, grasses and perennials used to draw one’s eye to the water. We positioned a cascading waterfall to act as a focal point, where a large pump also serves to re-oxygenate the water. To minimise skip costs, we recycled most of the soil – using it to form a rolling embankment of planting to reflect in the water’s edge. We used heavy-duty pond liner, made to last a minimum of 50 years. Electronic Heron-Scarers were set in place to protect the fish. We created a tranquil setting for our clients to relax at the end of the day. With larger boulders set as places to sit – somewhere for watching birds and bees drink from the shallows, and a place to feed the fish.

Brief

To create a large and naturalistic pond – designed to attract and home a variety of plants, wildlife, insects, and large Koi.
